Shrien y Anni Dewani son una pareja de recién casados. Ella es sueca y él inglés. Viajan a Sudáfrica y están tres días en el Kruger National Park, después vuelan a Ciudad del Cabo el viernes 12 de noviembre. Al día siguiente dos hombres secuestran el taxi en el que viajan, expulsan al marido y al conductor y huyen con Anni dentro del coche.
